June Meeting of Cradley Parish Council

A meeting of the Council was held in Cradley Village Hall on 10 June. There was again a welcome representation from members of the parish, and with a particular interest in the item on Planning, questions were taken immediately after this item. Mr Wynne –James raised a matter on the planning application for Lower Nupend Barn and Mr Hunt wished to be assured that the Planning Committee produced its own minutes.

The key remaining items of discussion at the meeting were:

Open Meeting on Traffic Issues: Everyone Interested is Invited to Attend!

Representatives from the Police, and the Herefordshire Transportation department will be attending an Open Meeting on 22 July, 7.30 pm, in Storridge Village Hall. West Mercia Camera Safety Partnership who will be manning mobile speed cameras on the A4103 through the parish in the next few weeks are also being asked to contribute to the meeting.

The administrative and legal needs in running the Parish Council. It was agreed that a small team, lead by the Chairman, would be put together to make recommendations on administrative aspects, to include whether the Clerk to the Council should have a telephone line dedicated to parish work. Mrs Hurle expressed concern at the recent spending levels; this was echoed within the Council with particular reference to postage costs. We learnt that it is more cost effective to use the postal service than to have items of post delivered ourselves around the parish. It was also noted that the Council is presently undergoing a special exercise to agree its Standing Orders, Financial Regulations, and its response to the Freedom of Information Act 2000. This has required an additional meeting and some heavy paperwork.

Surface Water on the B4220: this is known locally as a problem but we need to alert the authorities immediately surface water is seen. Could we ask that anyone noting a surface water problem on the B4220 rings Mrs Courtney, Clerk to the Council, on 01886 880410 immediately, so she can take the appropriate action.

The Agenda for Parish Council meetings is displayed at the Butchers, the Post Office and on the notice noard at Storridge Village Hall at least 3 clear days before each meeting. Copies of the minutes for the last 2 years are held at Cradley Post Office. Mrs Courtney, Clerk to the Council, can be contacted on 01886 880410.
