July Meeting of Cradley Parish Council
After months of investigation and technical discussions we agreed a way forward for the aerial flyer in the Chapel Lane Playing-field. To reduce the noise levels, nylon bearings will be used. These will unfortunately also reduce the speed and therefore the fun, and may not be very durable, it may also take some weeks for the new bearings to be installed. However, it was felt that some action was necessary with the school holidays upon us. The Playing-fields Committee is in close contact with Alison Dore, the Community Policing Officer, and inappropriate use of the playing- fields equipment will be followed up.
A number of new initiatives were supported
The following working parties were set up to explore issues in more depth
The Chairman’s working party reported back on the increased workload being experienced by the Clerk. At public question time Mrs Hurle exhorted the Council to value their Clerk as being one of our most important assets.
In our response to the application for removal of trees on Sandy Lane we had no objection to the felling of the Norway Spruce and crown reduction of the Ash. We suggested the use of cut and lay technique, rather than coppicing, for a more robust holly and hazel hedge. We asked for the County Conservationist to be consulted and a rider was added that no action taken should adversely affect the drainage in that area.
Hereford Association of Local Councils, (HALC) have produced a programme of courses for Parish Clerks and Councillors over the next year. The Clerk and several councillors attended a recent module of the Code of Conduct. The module in October is on Quality Parish Status. We agreed to follow this with discussions on the actions we need to take to achieve Quality Status.
The Agenda for Parish Council meetings is displayed at the Butchers, the Post Office and on the notice board at Storridge Village Hall at least 3 clear days before each meeting. Copies of the minutes for the last 2 years are held at Cradley Post Office. Mrs Courtney, Clerk to the Council, now has a dedicated telephone line with an answer-phone service for council business. The number to contact remains as 01886 880410
