February 2004 Meeting of Cradley Parish Council

The Playingfields Committee reported that funding for sporting initiatives, such a football clubs, is available to community groups. If anyone in the parish wishes to set up such a club then we can point them in the direction of funding. The Parish Council is not eligible in its own right but would look to support such an initiative. Contact Geoff Thomas, Chairman of the Playingfields Committee on 880686 for further details.

Progress chasing was the theme of the meeting covering the need for action on storm-water flows on Chapel Lane, the wider implications of the sewage problem on Sandy Lane, and how Herefordshire Council will implement the new fireworks bill. In response to issues raised at public question time the Council agreed to write to the Bromyard Bus Company and the school bus company expressing concern over the speeding of busses through the village. In addition we agreed to press Herefordshire Council for urgent remedial work to roadside drains in the Ridgeway area, by the Post Office and on lane to Vinesend. If you have other examples where action is needed please contact the Clerk as soon as possible so that they can be included in the letter.

Make a note in your diary. It was confirmed that Mr Kenton Bradbury of Aquila will be at our meeting on Tuesday 9th March. Come and hear what he has to say.

Ruth Lovelace of Herefordshire Council will be discussing the benefits of a Housing Needs Survey with us on Thursday 13th May.

By the end of February you should have received your first copy of the "Cradley and Storridge Reporter", the official communication of Cradley Parish Council. This will be a quarterly publication, but monthly reports will still appear in this Newsletter. If we have missed you out please contact Sally Ramsden on 880220.

The Agenda for Parish Council meetings is displayed at Finchers Corner, the Butchers, the Post Office and on the notice board at Storridge Village Hall at least 3 clear days before each meeting. Copies of the minutes for the last 2 years are held at Cradley Post Office. Mrs M Barnett, Clerk to the Council can be contacted on 01531 635 103.
