September 2004 Meeting of Cradley Parish Council
Highways and Waterways
Some good news: Herefordshire Council will be replacing the missing cats-eyes on the A4103 from the New Inn in October. In addition, Kevin Hewitt of Herefordshire Council has offered to walk all the lanes where the Parish Council has concerns over drainage. At last this seems to be a We welcome this positive response and we look forward to reporting next month on likely action.
On the down side, we have had no further response to the proposal to alter the junction of Tanhouse Lane with the A4103. In the meantime there have been two accidents (no injuries) and our concern is mounting. We are applying more pressure, as we believe Herefordshire has the means to prevent a tragedy and should take action now.
The road by the new school site has continued to deteriorate over the summer. We are writing to the Council asking for urgent action to stabilise the verges, restore the road surface and appropriately line-mark the road. We consider this essential prior to the increased traffic levels consequent on school’s opening.
In the last month we have assessed those places in the Parish most at risk from flooding. In consequence, three-hundred sandbags are now on order from Herefordshire Council.
Heritage and the Arts
Herefordshire Council has a project entitled "Village Artmakers". Our local Art and Heritage Groups are keen to be involved. In response to their enthusiasm the Parish Council has agreed to provide partnership funding. We are now waiting to see if we are one of the eight chosen parishes.
Winding the Church Clock has been exercising our minds over recent months. Should we help fund an automatic winding machine, or should we seek more volunteers to a once-a-week session of aerobic exercise? We have decided to seek volunteers. If you want to keep fit and be involved in Cradley’s history this may be the way. Contact Chris Lowder on 880282.
The Agenda for Parish Council meetings is displayed at Finchers Corner, the Butchers, the Post Office and on the notice board at Storridge Village Hall at least 3 clear days before each meeting. Copies of the minutes for the last 2 years are held at Cradley Post Office.
The next Parish Council Meeting is on Tuesday 12th October in Storridge Village Hall at 8.00 pm
(Please note the later time)
