The Council met on Tuesday 11 January. Some useful matters were aired and agreed.

Highways and Waterways

By the time this newsletter is issued we will have taken delivery of sandbags. We also hold a copy of the Herefordshire Flood Plan. Contact Chris Lowder if you need more details.

Concern was expressed over the continuing deterioration of the road between the school and the A4103. The Clerk was asked to seek action from Herefordshire Highway Maintenance.

Playing fields

We have ordered notices for Buryfields playing field banning the exercising of dogs. Geoff Thomas agreed to pursue further the possibility of fencing-off the public footpaths. Agreement was given for the Chapel-side hedge at Chapel Lane playing field to be cut.

Retrospective Planning Applications

The Council’s policy towards retrospective planning applications was discussed. It was agreed that, where the Council objected to such an application, a representative would speak at the relevant County Planning Meeting. Additionally,The Clerk was asked to seek copies of any Enforcement Notices that are issued within the Parish so that we are kept informed of events.

Ledbury Youth First.

John Edgar reported back on the plans afoot with young people in the Parish. We were very pleased at their suggestion of making a presentation to the Parish Council in due course.

Train and Bus Timetables

We have received updated timetables for local services. Copies can be consulted at Cradley Post Office and the Butchers.

Donations

Amongst the items agreed for payment this month was a donation of £140 to the Malvern Citizen’s Advice Bureau. In addition to the valuable work they do we considered the Malvern location to be the most appropriate for the council.
