Cradley Fair 2010

As chairman of the joint fund-raising committee I would like to thank everyone who took part in making the ‘Cradley Village Fair’ such an enjoyable event.

We set out in January to develop the usual ‘Church Fête’ into an inclusive village-wide event. A major highlight was the concert on Saturday evening, Gilbert and Sullivan’s Ruddigore from scratch. Such concerts are usually held in the Church, with bar and supper provided from the Village Hall, hence the partnership between Cradley Church and Cradley Village Hall.

Participation of all known village organisations was invited so that they could raise their own funds and profile. The interest shown by them encouraged us to extend the Fair into a two day event. As can be seen from the programme many people put in a lot of time and I thank everyone involved. Advertisements from the Programme are on the above link and will also be on the business pages.

Unfortunately we did not get the number of visitors that the efforts of the stall holders and organisers deserved, but those that came enjoyed the atmosphere and the quintessentially English spirit. As of 12 July the receipts of the joint committee, less expenses, are about £2,700 shared between Church and Village Hall, and on this we can judge our efforts successful.
