DEDICATED EMPLOYEES RECEIVE RECOGNITION AT QUALITY AWARDS
This month we take a look at the Divisional staff who have received Quality People Awards
Three members of Herefordshire Division Staff have been honoured during a special awards ceremony to recognise the people who have made a significant difference to the lives of the residents in their communities.
The annual Quality People Awards, held at police headquarters in Worcester, saw 69 dedicated officers, police staff and members of the Special Constabulary honoured. All those nominated from across Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Worcestershire attended the ceremony at Hindlip, accompanied by their families.
Chief Constable Paul West, who hosted the event, said: "The Quality People Awards ceremony recognises the dedication and commitment displayed by all of our nominees and also enables us to show all of our staff how much pride we take in their achievements and success.
"It is particularly relevant in the year that we celebrate the first 40 years of policing in West Mercia that this ceremony reflects the very highest standards of professionalism and commitment."
West Mercia Police Authority chair Paul Deneen added: "The Quality People Awards are an excellent way to publicly recognise the outstanding achievements of West Mercia officers and staff. I would like to congratulate them for their tremendous work."
The Herefordshire winners were Hereford response officer, PC Edd Williams, Bromyard Local Police Officer PC John Meek and the Division’s Support Services Manager, Brian Ridley.
PC Williams scooped the Excellence in Policing Trophy, having demonstrated
outstanding work performance. He has twice been commended by the Divisional Commander and is the highest performing response officer on the Division. Edd is recognised among the staff at Hereford as an officer who will always ‘get the job done’.Brian Ridley, meanwhile, took the Manager of the Year award for Police Staff. Brian is a highly respected and long-serving member of the Division’s staff and has long been recognised as a role model for anyone seeking an effective and efficient style of management.
Bromyard Local Policing Officer PC John Meek was awarded the Paul Deneen Trophy, an annual award donated by the Police Authority chair. John typifies the archetypal Local Police Officer – he is approachable, amenable and accountable to his public, and assists his colleagues irrespective of his own workload.
