NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH BULLETIN
Week ending 11th to 20th September 2009
Aylton
An ‘eglu’ chicken house was taken from communal grounds in the village between Sunday evening and Monday morning. It is lime green plastic with green mesh wire, and although not heavy is large and would need two people to carry it.
Cradley
White polyfiller type substance was thrown over a car parked off the road on a driveway over the night of 11th/12th September.
Much Marcle
Several instances of theft and criminal damage have been reported in the Lyne Down area of Much Marcle in the past week.
Bosbury
There have been a number of thefts from local pig farmers resulting in the loss of high value stock and quantities of animal feed.
Putley
A powder blue van with blacked out windows displaying a Reg. No. similar to AK51MYS has been seen in the area offering tarmac and asking for odd jobs. Despite an area search we have been unable to locate the driver but would like to speak to him. Any sightings please let us know.
General Information
There has been a series of garage thefts in rural areas across the region this week, involving the doors being removed from the premises by lifting them off their hinges, having first cut through any bolts/padlocks. All have been during the hours of darkness with nothing seen or heard. Items taken include power tools, lawn mowers, bicycles and some building equipment.
Neighbour Hood Watch – Herefordshire Committee
You may be aware that Insp Barnett has been working for some time to deliver the Ringmaster system to improve communication around the County with NHW and the various other watch groups. We understand that this is likely to go live in September.
Recently Chief Inspector Roberts met with what remains of the NHW committee yesterday, by remains we mean there are now only three members! Clearly this number does not make them effective and they are seeking new volunteers from the many people out there in NHW, Horse Watch, Rural Watch, even Shop Watch.
Watches on their own are very effective but together with a strong committee would be able to access a great deal of funding opportunities to make their communities safe, alone each Watch could not achieve this. Chief Inspector Roberts has been very clear that NHW is a community driven project that the Police are pleased to support but that we will not manage, and to this end there is a need for more volunteers on the committee.
We hope that with the introduction of Ringmaster we will be able to encourage watch members to join the committee, however in the mean time Local Policing are being asked to canvas those on our areas whom we know are active in the many ‘Watches’ and see if any are willing to join the Herefordshire Committee. Any volunteers can be passed to Chief Inspector Roberts and he will ensure they are forwarded to the Association Chair.
